Start the climb

This could be your
best quarter yet.

The fourth quarter of life is the perfect time to get greater clarity about who you are and how you got here—so you can dream bigger about what's possible next. The Grand Plan will help you do exactly that.

As you move through The Grand Plan's six summits, you'll reflect on your life story, clarify what matters most, and set actionable goals for living your fourth quarter with renewed purpose.

Summit of Personal Peace

Write Your Story

In the first summit, you'll reflect on your life story, fitting together the pieces of your past to uncover clues about where your story may be leading you next.

  • Identify the high points, challenges, and core learnings that shape how you think about the future.
  • Sketch a storyboard to reflect on where you've been, where you are, and where you might be going next.
  • Get introduced to The Grand Plan course dashboard and start using it to prepare for the summits ahead.

Find Your Place

Next, identify your "places of possibility"—the locations and circles where you may want to invest your time.

  • Confront the doubts that may be keeping you from dreaming bigger about your fourth quarter.
  • Name what inspires you, what you're good at, and what you enjoy doing—and note the skills that are less visible in your day-to-day.
  • Start drafting SMART goals for the opportunities and spaces you may want to step into.

Engage Your People

In the third summit, you'll name the people who can help sharpen and support what you're building toward.

  • Investigate your sphere of influence and categorize the types of relationships in your life.
  • Consider the people you may want to learn from, share experiences with, or intentionally invest in.
  • Make a plan to connect with the people you've identified—and follow through with intentional action.

Explore New Passion

Next, gain momentum as you lean into new interests and revisit old ones.

  • Reflect on what motivates you, what pulls you forward, and what you may be ready to leave behind.
  • Create a meaningful bucket list of things you want to do and achieve in the long term.
  • Draft a 30-day growth goal around something you want to learn, try, or pursue in the short term.

Identify Your Ultimate Contribution

In the fifth summit, you'll begin defining what you want to be known for as you consider the impact you want to make in your fourth quarter.

  • Gather input from people around you to understand how they perceive your character and presence.
  • Look for the patterns that emerge; then determine one word that reflects the legacy of character you want to be known for.
  • Brainstorm an artifact, object, or contribution you may want to leave behind, and begin working toward it.

Name Your Routine

Finally, you'll build the habits and routines that lead to a life of renewed, refocused purpose.

  • Evaluate how you balance key responsibilities and identify which areas may need more focus.
  • Consider whether your current routines are sustainable and note where you may need to shift priorities.
  • Map your daily, weekly, and monthly rhythms so what matters most always has a place in your calendar.

Frequently asked questions

Who is The Grand Plan for?
The Grand Plan is for people approaching or already in their fourth quarter of life. Most participants are between 52 and 70+, though anyone from about 40 onward will find it useful. It's for people who have decades of experience and energy left to give, and who want to be deliberate about where that goes next. If you're asking what comes after the career you built, this was made for you.
How is The Grand Plan structured?
The process moves through six summits, each building on the one before: Personal Peace, Meaningful Contribution, Expanded Community, Increased Learning, Clear Legacy, and Holistic Health. Every summit combines short videos, guided reflection questions, planning exercises, and practical challenges. The course is entirely self-paced — there's no schedule to keep and no sessions to attend. You work through an updatable course dashboard and keep lifetime access to everything.
Why does The Grand Plan focus on the fourth quarter of life?
Roughly 10,000 Americans retire every day, and 77 million are between 52 and 70. Most of them were handed a version of retirement built around rest and travel, and for a lot of people that version doesn't fit. The fourth quarter is when your experience, skills, relationships, and wisdom are at their fullest — which makes it the wrong time to coast and the right time to plan.
Will participants spend more time on reflection or practical exercises?
Both, in roughly equal measure. The early summits lean toward reflection — writing your story, identifying what you're good at, naming what matters. The later ones turn that into specifics: goals, habits, routines, and a plan for how you'll spend your time. Reflection without action doesn't change anything, so every summit ends with something to do.
Is The Grand Plan only for people who are retired or planning for retirement?
No. Plenty of participants have no intention of retiring, and some are years away from thinking about it. The Grand Plan isn't about leaving work — it's about deciding what you want this stretch of your life to be for. Retirees, people still working, and people somewhere in between all go through the same six summits.
Can The Grand Plan be used by churches and small groups?
Yes, and it's often better that way. Churches, book clubs, alumni groups, and neighborhood circles use The Grand Plan to move through the process together. Because the course is self-paced, no trained facilitator is required — though a church or group that wants to teach it themselves certainly can. Group licensing starts at $1,500 per year, with additional participants at $35 each.
